With many great restaurants in the Northeast Ohio area it might be tough to cut down on some of your favorite foods. However, it is important to note that if you are having an issue with dry mouth cutting back on some of these foods can help:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Citric food and drinks
- Salty foods
In addition to cutting these foods out of your diet, breathing by way of your nose, as opposed to your mouth should help as well.
Though it may look like dry mouth is simply an aggravation, if untreated, it can actually bring about more serious issues like cavities and gum disease. About 30% of all cavities found in adults may be associated with dry mouth, as stated by the Oral Cancer Foundation. This means spotting the early signs of dry mouth and starting a treatment plan early on is very important. The more time you delay before acting, the more challenging it could be to treat and heal.
